Polish Science Week at EXPO 2025

The World Exhibition EXPO 2025 slogan, ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’, provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the achievements of Polish science, especially in medicine, innovation and cooperation between science and business. In particular, Poland stands out with the sub-theme Saving Lives’, which highlights the global importance of Polish achievements in the field of health. As part of the preparations for EXPO 2025, a Polish Science Week is planned, and the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) will play a key role in implementing this event.

The Week of Polish Science aims to promote Polish scientific achievements, including medical achievements, and to showcase the development of scientific cooperation with Japan. The programme will include large-scale screenings, research presentations and side events to showcase the successes of Polish universities and research and development institutions. Partners who will collaborate in organising the event include the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) and Polish medical universities. An essential highlight of the programme will be the promotion of the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Award, established by the Polish Embassy in Tokyo and the Japan Science and Technology Agency. The award aims to popularise the Polish Nobel Prize winner’s achievements and support scientific cooperation between Poland and Japan.

Cooperation with business and commercialisation of knowledge

One of the key elements of the Polish Science Week will be the presentation of activities related to commercialising knowledge and cooperation between science and business. Poland has unique solutions that support innovation and the creation of links between the world of science and the private sector. The Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, NCBR, business incubators and universities that promote academic entrepreneurship and technology transfer to the economy will collaborate on this programme.

Preparing young generations for the challenges of the future

EXPO 2025 is also an excellent opportunity to shape the awareness of young generations and prepare them for future challenges. SGGW, working with Japanese educational institutions, is organising a series of meetings to present Poland’s academic and scientific offer. Student internships will also be an essential programme element, enabling young scientists to engage in inter-university research projects.
